Manistee County READS: “Killers of the Flower Moon”

Sept. 1 – Nov. 30, join the county-wide reading experience for a chance to win free movies passes and other prizes!

Think of it as a book club where all of Manistee County is invited to take part. The selection for this inaugural program is “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann. This nonfiction book was a #1 New York Times best-seller and a National Book Award Finalist. Whether you prefer mysteries, true-crime, history or drama, we think this a compelling story for readers with a variety of interests.

This is your chance to read the book before watching it on the big screen. “Killers of the Flower Moon” was recently made into a motion picture featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film is scheduled to be released in theaters later this fall.

Our team has ordered extra copies of this title to ensure that everyone who is interested in participating in the program can read the book by November 30. Use your Manistee County Library card to reserve your copy today, available in hardcover, trade paper, large print, e-book (Libby) and e-audiobook (Libby). Audio CD versions are available through MeL interlibrary loan.

Everyone that reads or listens to the book and registers as a participant in Manistee County Reads 2023 will also be entered in a drawing for free movie passes and a variety of other prizes.
